I recently placed an order on August 16th for 25 lbs of 4-inch cut beef short ribs, 4 lbs of ground chicken, and 2 lbs of chicken gizzards. Overall, Halal Meat Boston offers competitive pricing for local halal meat, a smooth online ordering experience, and quick direct text messaging. Having a local farm option near the house is a huge plus.
However, a few operational details fell short of expectations:
Item Availability: On the day of home delivery, I was informed that the chicken gizzards were out of stock rather than being notified in advance.
Shipping Threshold: The free delivery threshold was changed from $150 to $200 after the order was delivered, incurring a shipping fee. Had I been notified before the quote or order was finalized, I could have easily added another item to qualify.
Cut & Freshness Consistency: The short rib cuts varied significantly between 3 and 6 inches rather than the requested size. Additionally, based on variations in color and temperature (frozen vs not), the order appeared to be a mix of pre-cut older inventory and freshly cut meat.
The website user experience and direct communication are excellent, however, tightening up inventory updates, policy notifications, and cut consistency will go a long way in driving customer retention.
Overall, happy with their product and service!! Definitely will use them again and refer to our extended friends circle.
